A Washington DC Gentleman Dom. To me, being a Gentleman Dom means I am the nurturing, safe kind that helps you realize your sensual potential as a submissive and as a lover. This blog is purpose built to show what I like to do so a potential lover can see . I'd love to hear from local submissives who enjoy my blog.
I'm GentlemanWilliam on Fetlife and gentlemanwilliamdc on reblogme.
I was recently asked about the restraints I used by someone that wanted to restrain bottoms during impact play without having to bother with rope. Once I’d gathered the links and typed up an email I realized there could be others that could use this information so here it is. By the way, the links are to the manufacturer’s sites but I bought just about all of this from an online mega-retailer.
So this is a basic set of about a half dozen items, plus some hardware, that will give you a lot of options.
Cuffs

I found these basic cuffs years ago and they’ve been great for me. I use these for both ankles and wrists. they are durable, have plenty of D-rings, and go pretty small (which is what I usually need since my subs trend towards petite ). They are comfortable and can stay on for long periods without discomfort. I actually had one sub that would sleep in them.
An absolute favorite set up is having my sub secured to the ceiling and regular cuffs are not great for that...support is at the wrong angle and it's too easy to slip out which is not great for the scene and can be dangerous. I picked up some of the below from the guy that makes the great Dragontail whips I love so. They are small sized so fit most women better than most stuff (which is still using patterns developed for men). I love these… Also, your sub can use the quick release in the event that you catch yourself in the eye with your whip and stumble down a flight of stairs. Don't forget you can have wrists together, apart by means of two hard points or apart with a spreader bar and one hardpoint.
Spreader bar

A very useful item for on the ground with their arms under their body with their ass up, or just keeping feet apart. Pairs nicely with a bondage collar since it can go through D-rings on the collar and attach cuffs at ends for a stock effect.

Of course it can be used with a leash, but this allows more options like with the spreader bar, with some chain/rope and securing to cuffs, securing them into some spot...
The rest is hardware for something to secure with or something to secure to.
clips
double ended snap hook - google it
Just a basic hardware store item. Clips are nice for close connections and are quick. The "click" sound is a nice touch and helps transition to when your bottom is now secure and vulnerable. .
Rope and Chain
I also use rope and chains. Chains are cold and that feel on the skin is a nice effect so can add an element. With clips, chain is easy to connect to or disconnect from and length is easy to adjust by clipping to different links of the chain. Hardware stores have plenty of rope and chain. It’s best to have a set of 4 or so lengths of chain precut. BTW... once home from the store, the best option for cutting chain is a bolt cutter; the next best is heavy duty vice grip if you have the strength.
Something to secure to that isn’t an ugly and totally obvious eye bolt in your ceiling
These are the hard points I use. it's a great kinky life hack since you can just say it's a workout thing. If you don't have the actual TRX set, just say it was from the previous tenant. It also comes in white.
So this is something that came with my TRX set. I didn't think much of it but eventually brought it to some play in a hotel room and it's actually come in very handy.
